The first minute a customer enters our store is very important. We need to acknowledge them within 10 seconds. A simple "Hello", "How are you?" or "Welcome to Gofer" is fine. It is important for us to allow people to actually enter the store first. Saying "Can I help you?" the second they cross their foot into the store can be a bit too soon! Give them a little time to come in look around and enjoy the experience. However, its never too soon to say "Hello" with a smile.
Make customers feel welcome. Always treat them like you would want to be treated when walking into your favorite store or restaurant.
Reasons for Complaints to anticipate:
Quality of product (not correct portion or made wrong)
Overcharged or incorrect change given
Poor service (no attention to customer or repeating back order)
Objects in ice cream (like hair or a fingerprint)
Dirty table, chairs or floor
Lets remember the customer is almost always right. There are only about 20 really mean people in the world. Now they move around a lot so you may meet one at some point. No need to get upset and argue with any specific customer. Simply give them what they want or ask your manager how to have the customer leave happy.
Without customers we are out of business. Always keep in mind they actually have a choice as to where they go. We need Gofer to remain on top and you are a key part of this. Attentive service is a critical component of the "experience" we offer. A clean environment, top quality products prepared consistently and our attention to the customer, is all we can do to retain their business. So lets do it well.
"How can I help you?"
"Have you tried the .... ?"
"What else would you like to try?"
"Would you like a pint or Gofer bite to go?"
While its true you are the person physically handing the customer their treat, our company never considered you a server. You are an ambassador of the Gofer Brand. Be proud.
Even if you have tried a product remember every product is new until a customer has tried it. Here are some tips...
Offering samples or offering a product suggestion is a great way to increase the customer experience.
Personal recommendations are helpful.
Know the top sellers and be able to let customer know what others are selecting and liking. "The new Gofer Pumpkin flavor hard serve is a big hit."
Asking about what they maybe in the mood for. "Do you want something with Coffee or Chocolate? Low fat or fat free?" "Ready to indulge and treat yourself today?"
Giving samples is an opportunity to educate the customer on the benefits and features of our products. "Our non dairy ice cream is made with coconut milk" or "Gofer lite is a low fat treat made with skim milk and has just 15 calories per ounce." "Here is new flavor we just introduced.."

Ideally we should direct customers to the Gofer Ice Cream website to learn more and start an order for a Party Box. They can also start the process with the form when the customer is in the store. Inform your manager once a form is completed.
Note: The Ice Cream Party Box needs advance notice, its not available unless Gofer has time to prepare it. Generally a few days to a week or more notice is desired.
